Classic Socks with Joan Jenness
Description: To cover the basics of sock knitting, students will knit a mini sock in class. In the process, students will learn how to turn a heel, using short rows, how to pick up gusset stitches to avoid holes, how to decrease for a toe and how to graft or us kitchener stitches.

Course Cost: $35 payable to the Bridgton Historical Society at time of registration
Materials to bring:
Light colored worsted or sport weight yarn
A set of double-pointed needles suitable for the yarn weight--#4 or 5 for sport weight, #5-7 for worsted.
A yarn needle (for grafting and finishing ends)
Scissors
Homework:
Cast on 24 stitches, putting 8 on each of 3 needles. Join round.
Work K1, P1 rib for ½ to ¾ of an inch
Work in stockinette (K every round) for 1 ½ inches
