There is still room for anyone interested in participating in the eighteenth annual Woodworkers and Artisans Show, which will be held from 10 to 4 on July 10 and 11, 2010, at Narramissic. Although items in the show are for sale, we stress education, and exhibitors are expected to be on hand to share their knowledge by answering questions and, when possible, demonstrating their skills. In addition to booths and on-going displays in the barn and elsewhere on the grounds, there will be an on-going series of special demonstrations. Past topics have included topics such as identifying real antiques from fakes, soap making, dying textiles. Please contact us if you are interested in doing demonstrations, exhbiting your work,or both. There is no fee for participating. For further information, please contact the Bridgton Historical Society at PO Box 44, Bridgton, Maine, 04009, (207) 647-3699, or info@bridgtonhistory.org.
The show features artisans working with traditional methods and materials, displaying a wide variety of original pieces, including furniture, canoes, hand-made brooms, walking sticks, native American flutes, jewelry, hand-spun wool and fiber products, and more. The show creates a relaxed atmosphere for visitors and provides an opportunity for families to have fun while learning about traditional crafts and early American Life. Lunch will be available, and the house will be open for tours as well. Proceeds from the event benefit the Bridgton Historical Society.
Admission for visitors is $5.00 for adults, with children and family discounts available.
